The event celebrates a very significant anniversary: 40 years since the founding of EMAS (The Electroacoustic Music Association of Great Britain). Following the recent CIME call for works, at which Ambrose Seddon’s Traces of Play was put forward, BEAN have received news that the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba y el CCEC (Centro Cultural España Córdoba) are organizing the XXIIth International Conference on Electroacoustic Music – Virginie Viel’s La Dame Blanches has been proposed; this submission from DMU was rated second by the international jury, and is a suitable length for the call. Andrew Lewis’ submission for the CIME AGM has been published on a collection of works from the event. CIME selected one work from each member, and Lewis’ Skyline was successful. For more information, see: here
James Andean’s Dechirure has been selected for the CIME call for works at the CIME Spectro Centre for New Music, during the 2nd International Tehran Contemporary Music Festival in Iran. The event took place at the Tehran Contemporary Art Museum (TMOCA) and was evently well-received in the press: for more details, see: here.
The British ElectroAcoustic Network recently put forward a series of works for the Brussels Electronic Marathon, organised by Todor Todoroff. Abstracted Journeys by Andrew Hill was performed in concert 3: for more information, see here.
The British ElectroAcoustic Network is extremely pleased to announce that it is now a full member of the International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music (CIME), and officially listed on their website: http://www.cime-icem.net/members/
Each year, the International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music (CIME) hosts an annual general meeting. This year, the meeting is taking place at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Sept 25th – 28th. As a CIME member, the British ElectroAcoustic Network was eligible to submit up to 20 minutes of music. Following a ‘call for works’, an international jury assembled by BEAN selected three pieces to represent the British submission:
We are very pleased to announce that all three of these works have been scheduled for performance in Moscow at the end of the month. We are extremely grateful to Rodrigo Sigal and Felipe Otondo for reviewing submissions on behalf of BEAN.

In recent months, a number of institutional members have joined BEAN (listed on the ‘members’ section of the website). If you would like to become an institutional member, please get in touch via the ‘contact’ form on this site and you will be added to both the mailing list and the website. At present, there is no fee or membership requirement, but we do ask that you disseminate information from BEAN to others within your institution.
We hope that the call for institutional members shall be followed by a call for individuals at some point in the near future…
The British ElectroAcoustic Network has become a candidate member of the International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music (CIME/ICEM). Membership was approved by the General Assembly of CIME during their annual conference, held at CMMAS, Morellia, Mexico, in October 2016. By joining CIME, we have now achieved one of the major objectives of this network, and look forward to working closely with our international colleagues in the coming months and years.
